Athenahealth to be acquired by Veritas Capital

It was announced this week that Veritas Capital is in the process of acquiring Athenahealth. Veritas Capital had previously acquired GE Healthcare’s Value-Based Care Division earlier this year. While there are still some formal steps that Veritas must take in order for this deal to go through, it is highly likely it will get the green light.

Veritas affirmed commitment to Centricity customers and to Community Health Centers as a key market. They are committed to support Centricity customers and Centricity’s continued development.

As we understand from what has been shared, the intent of the the acquisition is to advance an industry leading solution designed specifically for Ambulatory care. The adoption of the Athenahealth brand and physical plant does not signal intent to collapse into the Athenahealth product and business model. Neither product will be sunset; instead the intent is to combine assets and technologies from both companies to address gaps and advance the current vision. We believe this may be a very positive development.
